I talked with Christian Homes on Thursday and they had received our application! I asked if we had gotten it in in time for the October 1st and 2nd Orientation. They said we had (as long as our references are in to them by September 1st ... do you hear that, references?!?:) ) and that there was ONE space left in that Orientation!!! I jumped all over that and signed up and paid right away to secure our spot.
October 2nd is Liam's birthday. I can't think of a sweeter way to spend that day.
After the Orientation, the REAL fun begins :) That's when we will complete our FULL application - biographies, home study, joint and individual interviews, physicals, etc.) to be fully approved for the program. Once the approval happens, we will (from what I understand), make a scrapbook for the agency to show the Birthmothers and write a "Dear Birthmother" letter to show to them as well. In this program, the Birthmom picks us. The pressure is on :) I may have these steps all wrong, but this is what I've gathered. We will know a ton more after Orientation.
PLEASE join us in prayer as we journey through this adoption. I get absolutely GIDDY thinking about holding a tiny baby that is healthy and that is OURS! But, I also get anxious thinking about the steps ahead to get there. Please pray for that anxiety and that we completely and fully give every step up to the Lord. Pray also for the mother that will "pick" us and for our precious baby (or babies ... we did say yes to twins :), brother/brother, sister/sister, or sister/brother ... which would happen if the baby has an older sibling - for us, no older than 18 months - and the mother wants to place them both!). I can't imagine how difficult this entire process is for the Birthmother.
Thanks for being excited with us!!
